GIS for Urban/Regional Planning and Resource Science, Management and Policy

Facility Management

GIS technology can play a central role in an organization's automated mapping and facility management (AM/FM) functions. GIS provides a spatial framework for referencing and using all manner of facility data, including facility locations and characteristics, inspection and maintenance records, capital improvement plans and projects, condition survey data and images, testing records, billing files and others. GIS tools can support all phases of facility management, from capital improvement planning, facility engineering and design, ROW acquisition, disposition and management, operations and maintenance, financial management, and public information support.
