GIS for Urban/Regional Planning and Resource Science, Management and Policy
Economic Development GIS
GIS is increasingly being used
to support local, regional and statewide economic development initiatives. The
technology can provide efficient access to real estate and facility inventories.
Specific candidate properties can be located based on specific client needs (i.e.
show me where we can find 30,000 sq.ft. of warehouse space with rail access and
within one-half mile of a major freeway access point). The inventories may include
a wide variety of information about each property including infrastructure capacities,
site conditions, facility information, photographs of the site and facilities
and other data to help match candidate companies with appropriate locations.
